Environment Minister failing to listen to local residents say campaigners

A coalition of residents groups has reacted with anger and disappointment to the news that the Department of the Environment is to permit an increase in flights at George Best Belfast City Airport.

Residents' groups opposed to plans to allow further growth at George Best Belfast City Airport have called for immediate clarification by planners following claims by Ryanair boss, Michael O’Leary, that a runway extension is on the cards.

Increasingly, evidence is being published which shows that an airport should never be built in such a heavily populated location as east Belfast.

Belfast City Airport Watch, is calling on the Environment Minister,
Sammy Wilson, to take urgent action following the results of a
survey which reveals that aircraft noise is causing problems for many Belfast schools.
